  • The travelling cake - do's and dont's.
My cakes are packed securely and won't be damaged if you follow these simple steps. - cakes are very heavy especially if you have a cake with 2 or 3 tiers, so bring a friend with you to help guide you, open car doors etc. - if you have ordered a multi-tiered cake 4WD's or station wagons with a higher boot area are best. - never put cakes on your lap, the best space is in the boot or on the floor of a passenger seat. - keep your cake out of direct sunlight. - if it is hot turn on the air conditioning and if you have stored the cake in the boot, fold down one of the rear seats to help the cool air circulate.
  • What size are your cakes?
The cakes I bake are round cakes and are 10cm, 15cm, 20cm and 25cm in diameter and approximately 13cm high. You can have 1, 2 or 3 tiers. To work out the size of the cake you need to order will depend on the number of guests you are having and the portion size you want to serve. Please refer to my cake size and portion guide. It's a great idea to give a copy of this guide to whomever will be cutting up the cake at the event.
  • How do I care for my cakes?
Your order will come with care and storage instructions specific to your order but in general the following care required is:- Keep your cake in the sealed box that comes with your order. If your order is received the day before your event and you have buttercream icing, place in fridge overnight and remove 1hr before needed. USE BY: Buttercream cakes should be refrigerated and covered if possible and consumed within 7 days.

  • Are you and your kitchen licenced to prepare and sell food?
Every food business operating in Victoria requires Food Act registration or notification to prepare and sell food to the public. The registration system allows environmental health officers to regulate and monitor local food businesses for compliance under the Food Act and National Food Safety Standards. I am accrediated as a Food Safety Supervisor and my kitchen is annually inspected and re-registered as a food business following the guidelines of the Food Act.
